Lesson 10 The Phenomena of Dreams

What i enjoyed most about this lesson is that Paramahansa Yogananda mentions that all  dreams have some significance because if nothing else they give us a first hand account of our state of consciousness. In that sense they are revealing.

That is an interesting connection between the dreams and our state of consciousness. So not only can we learn something by interpreting our dreams, but we learn what our state of consciousness is too. It is also mentioned that  "we can adjust our waking thoughts and actions, if we want to clarify or improve our dreams."

I like the part about in dreams the soul can create its own world , " satisfying all its unfulfilled earthly desires by materializing them into dream experiences ". Isn't that really what dreams are about ? Kind of like wishful thinking in a way ?

Of course, there are times one dreams about things that have happened to them during the day, or they may dream about whatever is on their mind, when they drift off to sleep. If there were problems or stress during the day, this probably manifests itself in your dreams at night. Sometimes, answers come to one in dreams.

Such a delicately interwoven piece of artwork and reality, our dreams are.

Lesson 6

Yoganandas' definition of ego: Ego is the soul in the delusive state of being identified with the physical body.
My take on this lesson is that he is emphasizing arousing the will to manifest that Divine life current; Discovering the lfe force again thru awkening that electirical current in the energization exercises.

i happened to open the lessons to #7 tonite. Master explains that as long as earthly desires are present which are connected to attractions to this earth we will have to come back here. Yet he gives us several tips on relaxation which is an intragal part of withdrawing the life force from the restlessness of daily living and absorbing the consciousness inward towards our soul contact with God. In one of the exercises he maintains that throwing the breath out for as long as it is comfortable slows the heart and removes the greater amount of motion and deterioration from the active internal organs of the body. The body is in a state of almost perfect muscular and motor relaxation when the limbs and the diaphragm are inactive. These helpful suggestions are preliminaries to the meditation techiniques in later lessons.

The importance of depending more and more upon the limitless supply of energy available from the inner source of cosmic consciousness and less upon other sources of bodily energy now becomes clear. Healthful food is necessary, but eating all the time will only make the body grow old more quickly. The only way to keep the body really rejuvenated is to unite human consciousness and cosmic consciousness through meditation. Avoid any suggestion to the mind of human limitations, sickness, old age and death. Instead one should constantly impress the mind with this truth:

“I am the infinite that has become the body. The  body as a manifestation of Spirit, is the the ever-youthful. Spirit.”

I believe that my dreams have really explained a lot about my state of consciousness!
