Title: What i learned during meditation last nite. Post by: Jitendra Hydonus on Sep 05, 2009 08:07 pm For those of you who are just starting some meditation techniques or want something until they have recieved some higher technique; i have learned this from an SRF monk:
Chant internally at each of the chakras in the spine. 1. Om Christ (at the point above and between the eyes 2. Om Medulla (at the point behind the neck) 3. Om Cervical (near the center of the shoulders) 4. Om Dorsal (Heart center) 5. Om Lumbar (about at the waiste) 6. Om Sacral (At the sex organs) 7. Om Coccyx ( At the bottom of the spine) Then go in opposite order chanting silently at each chakra up the spine back to the third eye or Christ center. After doing this several times try to keep the consciousness in the higher centers; the heart and the third eye. If for some reason i do not have the exact location of each chakra please tell me. i often have a hard time visualizing all this myself. This exercise can help us bring our consciousness inside and away from the senses and into our spiritual being. Title: Re: What i learned during meditation last nite. it illustrates how the yin and yang switch from front body to back body etc the main ponts and lesser ones (http://i26.tinypic.com/51yio7.jpg) this one illustrates the chakra points but illustrates how they are not always in perfiect verticle alignment my personal secondary heart chakra is a little to the left (http://i26.tinypic.com/346m4o3.jpg) sorry I can not reference the source of these pics as I had them saved into my puter for my own reference study guides, so I apologize at this time to the site or book I got them from Title: Re: What i learned during meditation last nite. Post by: Jitendra Hydonus on Sep 07, 2009 09:44 am From The Holy Science by Sri Yukteswar: 'As God created man in his own image, so is the body of man like unto the image of his universe. The material body of man has seven vital places within it called Patalas. Man turning toward his Self and advancing in the right way, percieves the Spiritual Light in these places, which in the Bible are described as so many churches; the light like stars percieved therein are as so many angels. See Revelation 1:12, 13, 16 20.'
"And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks, and in the midst of the candlesticks one like the son of man.." "And the seven stars are the angels of the seven churches; and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches." Title: Re: What i learned during meditation last nite. What a beautiful way to describe the Spiritual Light. I especially like this part " the light like stars percieved therein are as so many angels." Reading the quotes you have shared with us from The Holy Science, is guiding me towards wanting to read this book also. Thank you Steve. And thank you for posting the meditation, I will definitely try this technique. Title: Re: What i learned during meditation last nite. It seems that alot of this is still under construction. But i look forward to coming back to it later and see how it has grown... SteveAppears Self Realization Fellowship (SRF) is expanding it's "offering" into guided visualizations (meditations) at some services, etc. The 2009 August Convocation uniquely included these, and word is the new SRF site (http://www.yogananda-srf.org/srf_news/2009newSite.html) will begin offering some. Yoganandaji's mini-pocket book, Metaphysical Meditations should be universally appealling to many visualizing meditators ( http://bookstore.yogananda-srf.org/Metaphysical-Meditations-p18.html ) (or other booksellers). Likely, this is simply a reflection (by SRF and it's senior monastics) that guided visualization (meditations) will be of value to many seekers and devotees. Suppose the beauty is that it may introduce and aid early students in the expansion of mind, while providing a richness of options to even the advanced yogi... either way, SRF typically is very organized and clean in its presentation, so it should be a nice "ride"... ------------- blessings... They were lost between the pictures, so thanks Steve for reposting part of his posts, now I can go back and read all of it. And thanks to namaste for the update and the info on the SRF guided meditations. I think that is something I would like to experience.
