Title: Free Will or Determinism Post by: Jitendra Hydonus on Mar 26, 2017 04:55 pm The question of free will verses determinism has always been an interesting paradox to me. I wonder if any one else has an opinion on this subject?
Title: Re: Free Will or Determinism Post by: Jitendra Hydonus on Mar 28, 2017 11:06 am I often get insights about the nature of reality after meditation. My insight this time was that we are all like actors playing out parts in a drama. We imagine ourselves to be the roles we are playing out and therefore we get caught up in the drama forgetting our parts and instead trying to make up our own parts. Yet the script has already been written and our parts designed.
Title: Re: Free Will or Determinism Post by: mccoy on Mar 29, 2017 12:09 am Steve, if our parts have been designed we are being mere puppets.
We have to stop and take critical decisions in our life. Those decision which will influence the future direction of our life. Of course such decisions are significantly influenced by karma, they still are decisions coming out of our free will. Past events, former lives karma, demonic and saintly suggestions, even some random event may contribute. If the script is already written and someone tries to make up their own way, is that not a part of the script? I don't necessarily believe everything is predetermined. Maybe there are realities that exist which include us even when we aren't living that potential outcome.... Just speaking in tongues for fun here.... I do believe in Freewill. If Henry decided one day to break his conditioning is it written that, because of x, y and z Henry will decide to do something different and change his fate . . . ? In either sense... The day you wrote this I felt a unique detachment from my immediate reaction to an experience. As if I was indeed the actor you described above and at the same time, witnessing my own reaction as a member of the audience... It was surreal yet comforting.... |
