Title: Can we help others get along? Post by: Jitendra Hydonus on Oct 11, 2016 09:00 am Can we help those that are close to us get along? Think of the tremendous challenges that Krishna and Jesus had helping others get along. Often people are drawn into our lives who have conflict and challenges with one another. It can be quite a spiritual challenge to know just what to say to them especially if their challenges also have long term consequences and if you will still be with them and see them. It appears that some of us are meant to be peacemakers. Yet are we cut out for the service? I believe that it represents quite a learning curve and even then your successes may seem meager.
I have seen that one of the most difficult aspects of getting along is that most people cannot see beyond the filter of their own attitudes and past experiences. They cannot empathize with others. What a remarkable gift to have: empathy and of course compassion. Often we have to be willing to forgive as well and be willing to apologize even though we may not be totally in the blame. Sometimes whole nation's are given authority either willingly or unwillingly by other nations to be designated as arbitrators to help their citizens get along and this often results in military support or pressure. This makes those nation's trying to help appear like 'villians' and have hidden agendas to others. We find that in all groups of people including a simple little forum as our own that people come and go because they can or can not get along and they were friendly or unfriendly to others in their encounters.
