Steve, we know now where to deroute all those immigrants, the trappist-1 exoplanets are going maybe to relieve earth of the overpopulation problem.

Or more likely, rich people are going to seek retreat onto those exoplanets and leave the overcrowded earth's quarters to their grim fate.

Good point, Mccoy. The over-population problem seems just as likely to be solved by colonizing space rather than by cutting back on folks around here. That seems to be the way of evolution. If there was an over-population problem in the jungle, people explored new frontiers. Now we have colonized the earth. Maybe next we will colonize the cosmos. It will be the rich moving first though, surely. Not the other way around. Such state of the art technology as it would take to inhabit another planet would only be available to the ones who could afford it (assuming the current economic system is still in place when that time comes).

As it is now we will not even get to Mars till 2030...let alone colonize it. Though McCoy probably was talking about the exploplanets in jest we will not b there for any foreseeable future and even if we were there is no guarantee that those planets r not already overcrowded.

You'd have to first figure out how to fly there physically, check it out, then send nearly instant messages back to earth since if the planet were x number of light years away, it would take a long time for messages to reach us, so, a lot of things can change during that time. So even if we cannot travel the speed of light, or faster, communication would need to.

Also, we are assuming that we could just fly somewhere and claim it. It may be the Klingon High Council has already claimed some regions of space.

Or it could b like Dune. Creatures already there mining for a time travel mineral with great dangerous animals that do not like humans. Any number of things could b living there which r quite dangerous to humans... Not to even think about how dangerous we would appear to them considering the fact that we r dangerous to our ourselves and our own earth.

I believe we would be simply be labeled as 'food'. Maybe irritant but savoury food to be consummed in special occasions (spelled: L-A-N-D-I-N-G-S).

If the fact will be known back to earth, then rich people will be happy to send out poor people first, telling them the local inhabitants are throwing parties and banquets at their arrivals. Which would be one facet of the truth.
