Title: Re: Eccentric Planet Post by: mccoy on Mar 24, 2016 01:03 am I wonder if it would be defined a planet according to the Astronomical association classification we saw in an earlier post.

What interests me the most is this; 'all of these news stories lend credence to the existence of the Anunnaki's Nibiru' As you can see the object is described in many possible ways. Title: Re: Eccentric Planet Post by: mccoy on Mar 24, 2016 12:40 pm Steve, right now I cannot open your latest link so I'm going to do that later.
I'm pretty doubtful about the description of the body as reported in the article you previously linked. If it has a Jupiter-like mass and clearance and it si orbiting about the sun it would meet the criteria of the IAU. But it doesn't, since it has not officially been recognized as a planet. So what is it according to proper scientific definition? a comet, a centaur, a trans-neptunian object...??? As far as i know there is not enough information in yet to determine the size of this object (there are so many conflicting views and we may even be talking about more then one object) and its trajectory. It is all conjecture at this point. We may have to wait to assess what the object really is.

Some perturbation in the Kuiper belt objects orbits would suggest an external influence which some astronomers would like to correlate to planet 9. The paper has yet to be peer reviewed. the hypothesis will be tested by others astronomers. In the meanwhile, let's wait & see! |
