Title: Meditation with Others

Swami Sri Yukteswarji said, "Surround yourself with your spiritual bodyguards." You don't know how much you help one another when
you meditate with other devotees. The vibration that is created supports and encourages each one. -Sri Daya Mata

years ago, early twenties, i would meditate with a couple friends.

often times we held meditation in my parents backyard, by a very strong and beautiful tree. mostly during the day time. a few night time meditations.

i didn't think of the long term effects at the time. sometimes i would think it more difficult to let go completely in front of others. this would diminish, naturally, the more we would meditate together.

we started making real progress as a group.

reading your post has me reflecting and realizing the validity behind sri daya mata's words.

we don't get to see much of each other anymore. sometimes by, "coincidence" we will bump into one another.

i believe there is a mutual unspoken respect and appreciation to be in one another's company, if only for a little. light recognizing light.

thank you for sharing  :)

Funny you mention Sri Yukteswar, many times he and Yogananda will meditate beside me to keep me on the straight and narrow.

Hi :) I was wondering if Steve and the newer members would like to set a time aside this week to meditate together? Though we may not be able to meet in person, we could set a designated day and time.

What do you think?

Since we're probably meditating in the comfort of our respective homes- I would like to request that whenever you are done meditating Saturday that you say a prayer for mother earth, humanity and our meditation group.

When I meditate I simply try to still the mind and let the God work his wonders. Whatever Love I receive Saturday night I'd like to send back in prayer at the end.

The most important aspect of the mantra is that the sage does not pray only for his clan or nation but for the whole world or, more precisely, all the worlds2. This, as Amma tells us and shows us, is the correct way to pray. Instead of asking for something for our self, Amma advises us to pray for the whole creation. Praying for the welfare of all sentient beings–all humans, all animals, all plants—our mind becomes more expansive. Through such prayer we slowly can go beyond our limited egocentric concepts of self to identify with the entire creation, recognising its true nature to be none other than our own. And as we too are part of the world, we also are benefited from the blessings of the prayer.

Amma’s whole life is a constant endeavour to bring happiness to as many beings as possible. Her life verily is this prayer in action. She is showing us the correct attitude by which not only to pray but also by which to live.

While chanting Om lokah samastah sukhino bhavantu next time, let us try to feel deeply for all living beings, and make a resolve to live in this selfless spirit.

May peace and harmony prevail.

Steve and Kellie,
I have a friend or two joining in with us tonight at 8PM central to meditate. I really liked what you said to me over the phone Steve, you said something about trying to connect with each other but not to force anything or try too hard. I am humbled by your gentle approach and your dedication to the forum members.
Also, I am drawn to this mantra you've shared and the fact that Amma does this chant daily makes me extremely grateful for having visit her. She is a living example of devotion and service. <3
In the video you posted, it said, when you pray for others you gain peace and quietude. All day, thinking- "may all beings be happy" you gain a certain quietude or introspection for another person, allowing them the space to express themselves- without forcing anything in return. That quietude really stands out to me. May all beings be happy!
LaurenLoo will be unable to join us but she will be be sharing in sincere prayer, for the happiness of all beings, at 8PM.  :)

Is that you fossil fuel? I saw you in a vision in meditation. Your teeth were glistening! Do you use gleem toothpaste? People in the know want to know! Toothpaste contains formaldehyde, the same chemical that is used for preserving bodies! You look well preserved. I can say that much for you. My vision of you during meditation. See picture below. Brush your teeth with SOS pads. Tooth brushes are used for toilet rings. Keep the tartar off your teeth!

Last night I felt a lot of energy and was able to meditate longer than normal- that is to say, I hadn't felt any restless urges to stop my practices. I wanted to linger in it longer. I prayed in the beginning and started early, around 7:45PM central. I offered my space to Spirit and the souls tuning in. I hadn't realized how much time had passed until the dogs were disturbed and wanted to be let outside. It was 9:15PM. Then I decided to keep the practice going outside under the tree from 9:15 to about 10:05. I offered the peace and happiness to all beings. I greeted you Steve and KJos and other friends who had joined in with us.
I had some unique thoughts, as well as a slowing down of thoughts. At one point I felt a lot of energy around my hands, they felt warmer than usual too. I also came to a realization of Spirit by Unity and asked God to breathe through our breaths. It was a lovely meditation, thinking that god is breathing through me made it easy to focus on the breath and feel immersed with the experience. We ought to hold these more often, the sincerity and energy kept me going and I appreciate you for tuning in and assisting me too.

Dear Steve,

I was able to meditate around 10PM central tonight.

Out of curiosity, how long were you meditating yesterday? I ask because I think I felt you and was encouraged by you to keep going. Maybe it's just Eric being in his own head, but I thought you were there longer than some.

Kjo's how was your meditation?

With love.

yes I was meditating till about 10:05 central on Sunday nite if that is what you are referring to. The best time for me is usually Sunday nite at 9 eastern which is 8 central. I was wrapping it up when you started but often after meditation I get contemplative and occupy my thoughts on relationships with friends. Because my thoughts are somewhat settled during meditation I often pick up the thought waves of others and find it interesting when I have received messages from them during meditation. I do not give too much significance to the phenomena because desire is still a great influence in thought. However I do find it important for me to ask this question quite frequently... that is from hence do thoughts originate and how much is thought transference a part of every day experiences.

I know for sure that I have communicated by thought transference but find myself still a novice at the practice. I have a book I believe you will enjoy reading now Eric. It is called Initiation by Elizabeth Haich often you can get such books on Internet sites used and they can be very cheap but if you don’t have it by time I am done reading it I intend to send it to you. I do not read too much anymore but-not like I did when I was younger and took more interest in the experiences of others-because I was yet a novice at having experiences I admired in others. Since I have been reading it I often think of you and your experiences while I am reading it which may be why you felt that way last nite. Language and reading-while not as important as experience-is still an important communication skill and helps us express our ideas and personal experience coherently. I was told that Paramahansa Yogananda was able to just put his hands on a book an know its contents. I suppose in some ways we may be able to understand people, books and animals to some degree by touching them or putting our minds on their thoughts. Lately I have had more of such experiences in understanding the thoughts and motivations of those around me. I have also noticed that close friends have this ability often more pronounced then myself. I have known people personally who were very gifted at reading the thoughts and actions of others to come to a determination as to what their actions and mine should be with others who enter my life and their own.

Good Morning all,

My meditation on Saturday night did not last as long as I had hoped. Only about 15 minutes. I very restless and got extremely hot!? The few times I was able to completely "Tune In" I felt a pulsating in the center of my forehead. not unpleasant, just very intense.

I like to do this again. It was comforting(?) to know we were doing this as a group.

Have a great day.

Perhaps you could read some inspirational readings if you have difficulty sitting long periods. Also it has helped me greatly in my meditation to have some basic techniques like Amma’s IAM or Yogananda’s
Hong Sau and energization techniques-to help the body calm down.

Has anyone any shoulder/arm pain who might have been with us in our group meditation? Kjos, this was the first time I noticed my hands being warmer than normal. I think there was a lot of energy going around... I mentioned this elsewhere but there was something special about our group practice. I wasn't able to tap into it completely but it was "tangible." I felt the space was open to potent "inner" experience. I know I was being carried away by it for sure.
Increased sincerity and many blessings for us all.

Alright, so I was given permission to share this. My friend from 1111 angels message board
https://www.board.1111angels.com/index.php joined us for the group meditation the other night. I have not shared anyone's names and this is the first time I am cross-referencing each community to the other. Actually, I have posted messages from the 1111 forum on this board before for having been inspired but neither of you lovely folks know each others names.
With that being said a Woman by the name of Seeker relayed her experience back to me, this is her journal entry below. I was impressed and invited her to this forum. She got two names right. She also said we were visited by Yogananda and told me he had a message for each of us. And an angel entered our group.  :) TA means "Thought Adjuster."

Group meditation with Eric and his friends August 17, 2019

My grandma gave her symbol(very slightly I think to not impede the connection) My normal routine in meditation is walking around a gigantic clock, counting out the numbers, relaxing into alpha as I go. Then clear my chakras of residue, letting it drain into the River Of Love. I stop, to set my intention, then proceed down to the river, or cross a bridge to go to my library. I crossed the bridge. Nebadonia is often there to greet me. She gave me her symbol very strongly, I hugged her and eventually proceeded across the bridge. Instead of going to the library I circled down the bank to the river. Usually I go down to the river on the right bank before the bridge, don't know why it was different this time. Made the realization that the right bank is the side where the living souls enter the river, the left for the dead, or spiritual beings. I Contemplated this making my way to the river.

After being in the river for only a minute I appeared in another place
beginning the group meditation. It began with me riding in a small canoe type boat. It was just big enough for me to fit in, very narrow, sitting low in the water, a crocodile swam along side my boat. I patted him on the head, sending him away saying, “I'm not interested in playing with you right now.” I looked around and thought, “Am I going down the Amazon? Ok, I'll go with it.” Reminded me of an old computer game were we'd stop along the banks and met different people. Assumed the group and I would all be together, but I was alone.

First stop there was a young woman named Kelly, she was too afraid to go further down river. She wanted to feel safe about the group meditation, but was too scared. I put a bubble of protection around her so she wouldn't be afraid, she stayed behind while I continued on my journey. Then a guy named Steve kind of bounded up. He seemed very adventurous and raring to go, not really sure where he went off to. The number 7 popped into my head when I wondered how many people were in the group. Decided to go off on a smaller tributary. There was another young woman there who lived behind the waterfall. I was wondering, “Do they have waterfalls in Texas? Thought of the tubing trip I took when I lived in Austin, it was definitely not like the Amazon. Obviously this meditation was relying heavily on symbolism.
Felt like someone was trying to make the experience very exciting, the river sped up, no longer in the boats, several of us began tumbling over a very high waterfall. I'm like “This is supposed to be a meditation?” and slowed myself down, drifting downward. Think it was about then the muscle deep in my left shoulder and upper arm began aching in my physical body, I moved it around a little, still ached. Before getting to the bottom of the waterfall I decided to stop at a large, flat, wide, stone overhang. I sat in a crisscross position right at the very edge, trying to focus and figure out what was going on. Some of the others began gathering, a very friendly guy the name Tim introduced himself. I was surprised there were so many males involved, assumed mostly women would be interested in this kind of thing, faces were not in clear focus then. Our clothes changed to matching simple, long robes with hoods.

Eric walked out, very happy we were there(Do you have facial hair?) He felt responsible for the bringing us together, had us stand in a circle holding hands. Then with a lot of ceremony the image of Archangel Gabrielle landed in the center of the circle. A very colorful(a green and pink cloud billowed outward surrounding us) and energetic landing. It was his job to make sure we were all protected. My arm ached more intensely, the pain working its way down to my hand. I asked, “Does someone need healing?”

I thought maybe Paramahansa Yogananda would be there, I have never met him in meditation, but knew it would be amazing if he came this time, especially for Eric. Then low and behold, he walked out serene and smiling, introducing himself. He took us off separately to have private conversations. Eric were very happy about this! I was looking at the exotic flowers until it was my turn. I'm disappointed I can't remember what he said, only how he looked so kind and calm. There was a very loud pitch toning in my ear, so I figured at least I retained the information even if I didn't remember it.

Then I started rising upward on a small dark disc, could no longer see the others below me. Felt my TA's symbol, heard more toning. I was thinking this meant I was going to go off with my TA? Maybe the others in the group had stopped meditating? I usually stay in meditation for much longer, but by this time my arm was really aching, making it difficult to concentrate.
Realizing the meditation was ending, I asked for healing for who ever in the group was injured. Repeated the prayer for all beings to be happy and came out of meditation. My arm no longer hurt. My first thought was, “Well, that was... bizarre.”

Quote
Morning Meditation August 18, 2019-
Thought I would be nice to know what Paramahansa Yogananda had said to me the night before. Guiseppe, my destiny Guardian, gave me his symbol, it was very strong! I was dressed in a beautiful reflective gown. We were walking up a steepish incline. Our feet were still moving at a regular pace, but the steps sped faster as we whizzed upward. Surprised, I found myself at the very same outcropping by the Amazon from the night before. Paramahansa Yogananda walked over, serene as ever. We sat together at the edge of the outcropping overlooking the vast Amazon area below us. We hadn't sat there long when his face grew larger and moved very close to mine. He spoke softly, “Love is the only course you need to follow.” I understood this was about my spiritual journey. He continued, “And look more closely at Anandamayi Ma.” The meditation ended.

Title: River of Love Re: Meditation with Others
Post by: guest88 on Aug 28, 2019 03:31 pm
Happy to see you this morning. I've asked Kim, also known as seeker, if I could meet her in a familiar landscape. The mental landscape is called the river of love. Here are a few of her words.

Quote
There is nothing but the river, the forest and those who have come to heal, or receive healing. On the left bank stand the spirits, guides, guardians and celestials. They also go into the water to greet whom they are there for. For a very ill person, a loved one cradles their head, while spirit or living loved ones are on both sides holding them afloat. As the person is prayed, or sung over their pain and diseases flow out of their bodies absorbed by the water. People usually gather and stay with their group or family. Not everyone is there for the very ill, many come to meet, sing, relax, feel the water wash away negativities, commune with others, to feel God's love.

It's very accommodating as far as how many people are there at one time, there could be hundreds, or only you. Even if there are a hundred people, it doesn't seem crowded, very quiet and serene. Even if many are joined in singing it's not overpowering.

This is a place to be what ever a person needs it to be. If you prefer to sit on a bank, be alone, swim underwater for miles, or talk with a celestial, spirit or guide, that is what it's for. After healing someone, I've often left with a teacher and gone somewhere else.

I will be meeting her there and bring an offering. Happy to know I will be with you too Steve.

Peace friend...  :)

I fell asleep briefly during meditation when we did a group meditation. I found it hard to "control" my thoughts as they started dictating their own random show while my body entered into a rest. When I came to I found I was struggling with my meditation and focusing on the breath- I had to let go of a lot of attachment to thought and impulses surging through me at that time.

Did you have a nice experience Steve?

Wow you really are so honest even when things don’t go just splendid! Eric I am unable to recollect the last meditation together. But hope you can join me tonite and invite your friends here and at 11:11. 8 central and 9 pm E.S.T. My roommate claims I fall asleep many times when we meditate. It is discouraging but I try to be rested before meditating with others. It is not always possible. Meditation happens at that point between sleep and waking. That is why it is easy to nod out. I have become more and more interested in telepathic communication in meditation and sleep and in the origin of thoughts when I think of friends like you.

Thank you Steve. So I found something interesting. I sent Kim a thank you offering for meeting up at the River of Love and after sharing our experience, hers first, it turns out she did indeed receive what I had sent. I realize also the power of intent as I sent two things meaning only to send one and funnily enough these two items were combined in her minds eye as one gift- a blue rose. Did you have anything to share concerning our group meditation?

I would like to meditate again with Kim wed. She suggested we should have an intent going into it. Our first one we prayed for the happiness of all beings. Maybe we can figure something out that might help train your telepathic communication ... ?

No time yet for wed. I'm open to suggestions.
