1. Face Eastward or Northward
2. Put a woolen blanket underneath you to insulate from earth currents.
3. Both Amma and Paramahansa Yogananda said that their grace was very helpful in practice.
Invoke the aid of your own Spiritual Guides.
4. Remain quiet at least 10 minutes after meditation practice.
5. Become a vegetarian to calm the mind and body.
6. Meditate with others.
7. Keep spine supple by doing hatha yoga the energization exercises, yogic stretching movements etc.
8. Sit with spine erect.
9. Find a silent place if possible.
10. Play soothing unobtrusive music or listen to the sounds of nature.
11. Meditate with an empty stomach if possible.
12. Take a shower or bath before meditation which purifies the pores and lets the body 'breath easier'.
13. There are certain times that are more advantageous to meditate.... dawn and dusk... or midnight or noon. Also; Auspicious days when Masters were born or passed away which are celebrated at these times blessings flow more readily. Lastly; i have found during a full moon or when Neptune is being activated to help in spiritual activities.

-Sunglasses when there is sunshine or light
-Hearing protection in a noisy neighborhood or environment, airport traffic controllers is best
