Title: Catfish Corners
Post by: Beatrice Landcaster on Sep 04, 2013 11:18 pm
Just wanted ya'all to know that the most sacred place I could think of to go is at catfish corners. Its just a few blocks from where I put down roots. We've been skinnin' catfish and a fryin' it at the town park for years now. It gets a little hot down here at  these here parts. But if ya'll get the notion to visit the south we make ya'll feel welcome with some possum stew and skinned catfish.

We  gotta fiddle player who plays some sweet and free music . Dat would be ol Wrenchie. We call him that because if he wakes up on the wrong side of bed his music sounds like it was made to wake the dead instead of entertain the living. One day he played that there fricken fiddle and it sounded so a sweaky that all the local dogs and coyotes started howlin'. Even crows tried to shut him up and the crickets were chirpin' as loud as they could to drown ol' Wrench out. But if he wakes up on the other side his music will raise the hair on the nape of your neck. Gets your spirits a movin'.

Well folks ya'll enjoy the summer now. ya hear?

Dear Beady,

Thank you for the colorful picture you painted of happenings at Catfish Corner.  It makes me want to jump on a jet and get down there to see and hear it all for myself.  I love to listen to live music; it's my very favorite thing, and in fact the way I came to this forum - one of the founders of it is a very talented and original singer-songwriter, Steve Hydonis.  A local musician here in Venice, California wrote a wonderful song Jackson Catfish.  I send you a recording of it.  It has a very long introduction!  Whoa... the only recorded version is a darn instrumental.  Why, I never! Dang, why he didn't record the song?

And another one, so you can see the singer and hear him sing.  He's originally from England but has lived here half his life and has no British accent.
