Bhaktananda Proper Attitude YAG 8/2/83

To get rid of guilt, visualize the person we hurt in a shaft of astral light – repeat “peace and harmony” 10 -12 times.

Proper Attitude: Be objective, ask what is the solution?

“Life is 10% what you make it and 90% how you take it”.

Bhakananda  Humility LDG 4/28/82

It is a quality that is misunderstood, largely.

Humility makes you inwardly strong – not weak.

Humility is not:

Egoism – thinking of self, talking of oneself, doing a PR job on yourself. It is dishonest.
Being shy
Easily embarrassed
Being a pushover
Being an easy mark
Being a doormat
Being weak-minded

Humility is:

Dutifulness
Confidence
Poise
Gentle
Fair
Empathic
He knows

In Politics and business it is often the colorful egotist who is promoted. False humility is egotism. We fall into this trap by trying to be humble:
We belittle ourselves when praised
We should not say “I’m not so good”
It is like a 6 footer saying “I’m not so tall”
A humble person just says “thank you” and forgets it

Some people don’t know how to take praise. Never belittle yourself. Just say “thank you”.

“Humility is the root from which all virtues shoot”

Advanced state of humility: Surrender to God, he feels God is the doer.

Have a card on your breakfast table “For God and Gurus”. We forget so easily.

Humility is the basis of all other spiritual qualities.
