Post by: Jitendra Hydonus on Jan 29, 2012 08:42 pm

Brother Bhaktananda was a senior monk in the SRF order who cam in 1949. He was the epitome of simplicity and  humility. These r some of the things he said:

People aren't bad. It is just the way they live. Separate a person from his/her faults and b non judgemental. How do we help people? By holding on to our poise in all situations. Calmness and even mindedness is the alter of God.

Be observant. Look around and do what is needed to b done. Pick up trash. If there is something not working tell someone or try to fix it yourself. God chooses willing instruments of service. To b continued....

Once there was a marriage ceremony going on at the temple and brother Bhaktananda was signing the paper work in a an adjacent room to the stage where there were two poles on each side. Somebody came off the street and picked up one of the poles and started to hit the picture of Jesus. He said; 'You do not love me!' Brother Bhaktananda came out and said; 'May i help U?' Then he told the man that Jesus did love him and said 'Let us go over here in the room and talk.' He then said to him' 'U need to first get off the drugs and then start coming to the temple.'

How would we have reacted to this man? Do we act out of love or out of fear?
