Title: Bhaktananda Self Confidence Discipleship Post by: Jitendra Hydonus on Jan 10, 2012 03:53 am Bhaktananda YAG Self-Confidence and Overcoming Shyness 9/7/82 When we are shy, it paralyzes the will, we may even stammer. It is because we are thinking and feeling: “What impression am I making on others?” Instead we should relax and forget the self! Be ourselves and be natural. Each person is thinking about himself. They have passing thoughts, yes, but mostly it is about themselves. Don’t worry what others are thinking about you, they are thinking of themselves. Before you meet someone, do concern yourself with proper dress. Do nothing in your dress that would make you nervous. Lots of people are lazy and don’t want to change. Jesus said: “Love thy neighbor as thy self.” Jesus means: “un-egotistically, love yourself. Don’t run yourself down.” Bhaktananda Discipleship Date Unknown Master gives us very high ideals – we must never lose this. We are not yet at that high level, but working for that. The immediate goal every day is meditation and getting into the stillness. When Master first came to American he was saying to have a 6 hour meditation once a week. As time passed he changed this to 3 hours because he saw people were not doing it. Spend 10 minutes at the end of every meditation with devotion. Put lots of energy behind it! Like making human love. Saints all ask for love – not any experiences. Practice devotion in the chest. Live in the chest – all day. The greatest feeling of love is there. |
