Title: meditation; great tool to relieve stress Post by: Jitendra Hydonus on Mar 15, 2011 10:09 am Ludhiana, October 1 Meditation or Dhyana is the most powerful tool for relieving stress, attaining peace of mind and leading a balanced life. Meditation does not belong to any religion or race: today not only Hindus, but Sikhs, Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, Jains and others, all over the world are practicing meditation for leading a better life and are getting spiritual benefits as an added bonus. These were the views expressed by Swami Nityanand Giri Ji, one of the senior-most monks of Yogoda Satsanga Society, Ranchi/Self Realization Fellowship, Los Angeles, at the Community Centre, Aggar Nagar. An ambassador of the great master Paramhansa Yogananda, Swami Nityanand Giri J has been touring Ludhiana to teach its residents on how to lead a stress-free life by practicing yoga and meditation. The Kriya Yoga is an ancient Raj-Yog technique which Lord Krishna gave millenniums ago to Arjuna. The great master of yoga, Babaji, known as Maha-Avtaar, revealed the ancient technique of Kriya Yoga to the mankind. After a long gap again, in 19th century, Lahiri Mahashay, a disciple of Maha-avtaar Babaji, revealed this technique to the present world. Swamiji said, that in the fast-paced world of today, Kriya Yoga was highly scientific and true like mathematics. “Householders can practice Kriya yoga meditation easily and get rid of all types of stresses, mental worries and ailments while at the same time realize God,” he said. Swamiji explained that Kriya Yoga was a simple physiological method which created a chain reaction in the body. “It charges our body with abundant amount of oxygen needed for the brain and trillions of cells and tissues constituting our body. During its practice, lungs get filled with extra pure oxygen thereby decarbonising the blood more quickly and efficiently. It reduces the fatigue on the heart, which needs reduced labour to be done to pump the blood through the lungs because of the reduced amount of impurities in the blood,” he said. Swamiji said that we should abandon orthodoxy and adopt scientific ways for getting rid of stress and tension. He said that, besides a series of soul awakening writings by Paramhansa Yogananda, devotees were offered 182 YSS/SRF Lessons which would be sent to them regularly over a period of three years for a paltry sum just to cover the cost of postage. These lessons offer teachings on leading a balanced life, energisation exercises and scientific techniques of meditation. |
