STORY of  MRINALINI MATA and SRI YUKTESWAR ~ Bro. Chidanandaji

 🌹💜 Sri Mrinalini Mata's birth anniversary May 8 🌹💜

PARAMAHANSJI to Mrinalini Mata~ “And then [Sri Yukteswar] came and stood by you.  That pleased me so much.”

BRO. CHIDANANDA:  And one symbolic story [about wisdom]-–again this is one she would never have spoken of out of her own humility–but you may recall that beautiful story that she tells–it was on that recording that I just mentioned, The Guru: Messenger of Truth, about the time in Encinitas that Guruji had her, and a number of the other young disciples that were in Encinitas at that time, he had them out on the lawn overlooking the ocean, and was speaking to them, giving them some encouragement. And then his mind, his gaze became fixed out on the horizon. And they followed his eyes as coming closer and closer, and looking at each one of them, and then just very withdrawn, very interiorized just pronamed.

And afterwards he said: “Sri Yukteswarji has just come. I saw him as a great ball of light out on the horizon. He drew closer and closer and he passed through each one of you, blessing you.”

And Paramahansaji turned to Mrinalini Mata and said, “He came and passed through each one of you, and then he came and stood by you. That pleased me so much.”  You know, the Gyanavatar, the incarnation of wisdom, very symbolic.

BRO. CHIDANANDAJI:  Mrinalini Mata was only fifteen years old when she was accepted for ashram training as a renunciant by Paramahansa Yogananda in 1946.  When she met the Guru in 1945 at the SRF San Diego Temple, he had instantly recognized her as one who would play a key role in his work in years to come.  Thus, with her parents’ permission, on June 10, 1946, she came to live at the SRF Hermitage in Encinitas, where she finished her final years of high school and simultaneously received Paramahansaji’s personal guidance.

Knowing the exceptional quality of this disciple from past incarnations, Paramahansaji bestowed on her the final vows of sannyas in 1947, after she had been in the ashram only about a year.  He chose for her the monastic name “Mrinalini,” signifying the purity of the lotus flower, an ancient symbol of spiritual unfoldment.

From the very beginning of her life in the ashram, he spoke to the other disciples about the role he envisioned for her — especially her future responsibility as editor of his SRF Lessons, writings, and talks.  “She was destined for this work,” he said in a handwritten letter to Rajarsi Janakananda in 1950. “God showed it to me when I first saw her spirit.”  He devoted much time to personally training and guiding her during the final years of his life. <3 READ  ALSO in this article another story about Mrinalini Mata going to be with Sri Yuteswarji in Hiranyaloka after her own passing.

SWAMI SRI YUKTESWAR: “As prophets are sent on earth to help men work out their physical karma, so I have been directed by God to serve on an astral planet as a savior,” Sri Yukteswar explained. “It is called HIRANYALOKA or ‘Illumined Astral Planet.’
