Title: Marriage or not?
Post by: Jitendra Hydonus on Jun 09, 2010 09:42 pm
Lesson 61 helps those who are having problems with marriage. i found some good advice in there for me as well:

"It is better to have one's faults corrected by friends than to  let them be discoverd by one's enemies. It is blessing to be corrected by a friend because he means to heal." ~ Yogananda

wondering, is Lesson 61 - topic really about marriage ?  or are you using this quote of Yogananda's  to apply to topic of those having marriage problems ?

one's faults can be relative( not talking about family relatives ),
what one thinks is fault of another may only be in the mind of the first person - difficult to say - if one is not directly involved in situation ..... which brings to mind your previous comment......

i think that it is very difficult to comment when we do not know the view of the other party involved. Are you comfortable with being 'anchored down'? If not perhaps there is a reason why not. Resolutions to such problems sometimes take years and often outsiders who try to help get caught in the crossfire. Steve Hydonus

am I seeing conflict between Yogananda's statement and yours ? not to disagree with Yogananda...... just wondering ?

The entity called Leaping Squirrel makes one think!  ??? The quote i put on there about friendship is something that was in the lesson but did not necessarily apply to marriage partners. Although one would hope that marriage partners were friends. Thus the comment is appropriate. i am making no criticism about any ones marriage that is why i say how can we know if we do not know the partners views. Anchored down seems a bit dismal that was an observation about a description made.

Now how can one such as yourself see any conflict between my statements and Yogananda's without reading the whole lesson in context? Yogananda also stated that criticism must be welcomed to be helpful.

hey Steve !  8)  I am not the only one that combines unrelated statements

I have seen you take comments on one thread and mix them in with another  ;D

then wondering why you titled your post Marriage or not ?

you have a point,  I should not comment without reading the whole lesson , thanx !

I wasn't criticising, just wondering  8)

i titled it that  because the lesson deals with this issue and i feel that Paramahansaji is more qualified then me to discuss it since it has been brought up at various times on the forum.

But there also things in the lesson that can help those who are not married such as myself. So as i have said it is helpful to get criticism from friends. If you see that i mix comments from one thread to another and it is confusing perhaps you should point it out when it happens.

Shanti

Steve
