Eric first I think it is important that you and I are careful about our reactions to one another because we have such a wonderful friendship and experiences together. If this post were not about the Fuhrer why did you defend him and his provocative remarks? Certainly if we want to get at the originator of fake news we should look at its creator. None other then the Fuhrer himself. Regardless of the intentions of his statements the Fuhrer is known for has offhanded comments.
Although you did also post the above comments from Swami V. Since you have a long post defending the Fuhrer and also a clip from Swami V...I choose to respond to Swami V’s wisdom rather than Fuhrer Trumps ignorance.
I want to respond to Swami V’s comment. We may look at his comments differently. However this is what I have thought about ever since the American people elected the one man wrecking crew; Fuhrer Trump. The American people as a whole have little wisdom and to a large extent are victims of prevailing cultural interests and realities and mass conditioning provided mainly by environmental stimuli. Swami V expresses the need to be careful about fake news. Noting the anxiety and fear related to it. He said anxiety is the fear of the unknown. One of the interesting things I have found about Master’s and saints is that they rarely are specific about political issues. This is an observation that seems to hold true with Swami V above as well. However, I definitely am not singling him out. In fact I remember once someone asked about the leadership and where it was taking our country when I saw Amma. Her response; ‘ I have no comment. ‘ What I have found about Master’s...especially Paramahansa Yogananda and Amma is that they rarely have expressed overt political views... deciding rather to keep their conversations centered around God and spiritual matters.
From what you said here about Swami V’s statements he appears to be the same. His statement was to ‘be careful about fake news.’ Although he did not say where that fake news may be originated. As you know Fuhrer Trump talks about ‘fake news’ also but most people I am close to honestly concur that he is the largest proponent of fake news known to mankind (a pathological liar.).. and yes I would definitely agree with Swami V that it comes from the ‘desire for entertainment’ that people enjoy listening to it. In fact if you look at Presidents elected in the United Clones of America you will find that the most popular presidents were those with the ability to entertain the public most notably since the era of radio and television.
As an example; The Kennedy’s associated with Camelot. Trump and Reagan associated with their lives’ as actors and celebrities. Eisenhower as the ‘War Hero’. The Clinton’s drama as a pair in office. In fact it is difficult to find many presidents who didn’t have some popular and dramatic appeal. I think this comes primarily from the worship cult Americans have for actors, musicians and celebrities. The Presidents we have elected who had little or no appeal were the result of being associated with other presidents who did ... as an example the Bush’s. George Bush being the ‘vice’ president under Reagan.
