It is interesting that the cat was brought to the American Indians by people from Europe. It is now become very much part of our lives. If we observe a cat it has the capability of flexibility and it is a very Independent creature. I can think of no animal that is more independent than a cat. Perhaps then we are looking at elements of our own personality Dealing with the balance of independence And being a social creature.  Many of our experiences in life require others with us to facilitate completion. However meditation and the spiritual search can often be a very solitary mission and at times requires independence and being alone to have success. So do many other disciplines as For instance music. It requires a lot of time alone practicing.  Also a physical regimen requires much time alone to keep in shape and to work on her own body keeping it healthy. So the cat also Symbolizes time alone to work on projects ...And time when placed alone. So the cat can also symbolize issues we may presently have Between being alone and being with others.
