In silence and stillness, I find peace.

Trees are the earth's endless effort
to speak to the listening heaven.

I really hope we can enjoy nature again soon. You are such an expert about all the herbs and plants.
Have you heard of the salt cedar? i have been enjoying its gentle soft pine needles and protection against the heat of the desert. i often park under them during sleeping hours. It has a dreamy softness about it for a pine tree.

Trees release airborne chemicals called phytoncides (volatile organic compounds like terpenes and α-pinene) to communicate and defend themselves. When humans inhale these chemicals—a practice known as "forest bathing" or Shinrin-yoku—it yields major health benefits, including lower blood pressure, less stress, and a stronger immune system.Breathing in these tree compounds offers highly specific and proven physiological and psychological advantages:Boosts Immune Function: Inhaling these plant oils directly increases the number and activity of human Natural Killer (NK) cells, which help the body fight off viruses and tumors.Lowers Stress & Anxiety: Exposure to forest air significantly reduces levels of cortisol and adrenaline, mitigating anxiety, depression, and mental fatigue.Combats Inflammation: Terpenes absorbed during forest walks carry strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects.Enhances Sleep Quality: Specific compounds like α-pinene and cineole are known to help with labored breathing and encourage deeper, more restorative rest.To explore how these natural compounds interact with the human body, consider checking out the immunomodulatory evidence compiled by the PubMed Central (PMC) or review the broader public health benefits discussed by the Oregon Public Broadcasting - OPB piece on forest smells.
