i wonder if some of you have noticed: You can read the SRF lessons and say 'yea i did that' But it is like the more in tune you are the more you get out of them. It is like you have to strive to be in tune and ask for that attunement. i remember Brother Bhaktananda used to tell me: 'To stay in tune with the Guru read the lessons regularly' i find myself reading thru one and then going back and underlining lines and contemplating on them. There is too much there to really let it sink in on one reading.

Steve, you are right.  Paramahansa Yogananda has given us so so much in his writings.  There is so much depth to his writings.  A friend once described the learning process as a spiriling up.  Learning one life lesson then moving on and that life lesson returns again in the future to teach something new.

Recently i have been trying to assimilate the idea that the Guru has put in the lessons about a 'peaceful thoughtless state'. It can be found in lessonk-9 of the Kriya lessons. i have often wondered about this balance; Like how much, if any, should the mind be involved. When we reach this thoughtless state how do we then go deeper without the effort of the mind?

I'll re-read lesson 9 of the Kriya lessons and look for the 'peaceful thoughless state' Yogananda talks about.

'Peaceful thoughtless mind' sounds beautiful...beyond thought and words...something to experience and a gift from God and Guru.  We are not the body or mind yet we use the body and mind vehicles while visiting this place we call Earth.

It is . It just seems like you are a bit suspended without volition. That's why i have been thinking:What would be next and how  i would get there.

Mccoy happy to know u r chiming in with the lessons. People come and go here at S.P. but the fortunate ones are those who share their spiritual journey and get the chance to bounce sound waves down the canyon and here them echo back with nature's lessons and friendships return sounds.

I really get a 'kick' out of reading these lessons...sometimes i can really feel Yoganandaji's  blessings.

The Lessons are an awesome condensation of the Whole knowledge and wisdom of Raja Yoga translated in intellegible terms by one of the greatest prophets who ever threaded the planet earth. They are dreadful in a way because having such a  body of knowledge hurled at ourselves makes us feel incredibly unevolved and ignorant and lowly.

But that's it, by a cheap Subscription we've been gifted with immense knowledge.

That sounds like pretty good karma. Wouldn't like to be wasting it.
